We would like to request you to please make yourself heard on the issue of the party tickets and how this process can be more inclusive and democratic. It is a shame that major political parties have committees whose members award tickets to their own children. This is one of the reasons why we have launched this campaign to ask the citizens what they think the process should be like and then present this to the party leaders and lobby. A draft has already been shared with you as developed by reader Aqil Sajjad. We thought we’ll also share with you a timeline that we had in mind for the campaign. We were thinking of the following :
On Wed, Aug 8th the blog post goes up as well as the article.
Collecting signatures/ comments etc from Aug 8- Aug 12th
Finalizing it on Aug 13th
Aug 15-18th sending it out to the parties
Aug 18 onwards.. .. aggressive marketing of the idea to build up pressure on the parties.
Let us know if you have any ideas. on the time .. perhaps you might have some ideas about how to market/ lobby this better .. and please give your feedback on the draft…. And hey circulate widely.. . lets get as many signatures/ comments on this as we can.
We’ve revised the time line slightly and now we’ll be sending out the comments etc to the political parties by end of this month. So continue spreading the word and getting people to express themselves on this issue.
