The latest on the situation in Swat is that the army has been asked to step in. The North West Frontier Government (NWFP) government has asked for troops deployment to control the situation. The Dawn has reported on this by saying that the Peshawar Corps Commander has been asked for troops deployment but“the army has yet to take a decision.” However, according to some of our sources the army will be deploying troops…. this is not confirmed information … we are still trying to confirm this.
However, whether the army will or will not deploy troops might be the superficial question. The more troubling questions perhaps are:
Post Lal Masjid, is it wise to seek a military solution?
Have we learnt any lessons from the way the military action has been “handled” in FATA?
Given the issue at hand, what can be the way out?
It is probably a well-known fact that killing more people has never solved the problem–especially the problem of militancy. Moreover, the common people in Swat are moderate by nature.
There seems to be one viable way out in the present circumastances. The local elders and opinion leaders along with the socio-political activists may be allowed, rather encouraged, to hold meetings and jirgas in every village and hamlet. Those among the local population who are the accomplices of the militants might very easily be sorted out by the masses. The peolple may be allowed to deal with the local militants themselves.
But many observers claim that there are militants who have come from other parts of Pakistan and the world also. How to deal with them? It’s solely the responsibility of the government and state institutions to deal with such elements and find out how were the militants allowed to enter the valley and stay there.
Its not the solution of any problem.Because problems are not solved by war. They can only be solved by dialogs.
I have learned that Army donot know what they are doing. They donot have any aim in doing such things.
The only solution is to these problems is dialog.Dialog have stopped many wars and still it is do so.From both sides the problems should be understood and should be solved in peaceful manner.
It keeps getting worse … In Swat , a Buddha statue was blown up by “unidentified militants” Here is the link http://thenews.jang.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=10395
No peace in Pukhthoon areas on both sides of the border so far Pakistan is there.
No Peace or No Pakistan.
it is a well known fact that every thing which is being done in pakistan is due to American policy same thing is seen here our Army is working under there control. Our government thinks that we fighting against terrorism in Swat but they dont know that it will not solve there problem rather this fight will create civil war.Our goverment should find a solution through negotiations rather than killing people.
