Militancy – The war is not over yet

scan0011The recent attacks in Lahore and the suicidal attack on a Jirga in Mohmand Agency which took 102 lives are reminders that our fight is not over yet. Yes the operation by the armed forces of Pakistan have damaged the militant outfit to an extent that it will never pose a threat to Pakistan again but we must be aware that a complete eradication require persistence, patience and consistency.
This is not just a war for who controls how much land but it’s an ideological battle with people who want others to surrender to their versions of codes. We the liberals took a vow to stand against them and till this day we have not moved an inch from our stance. The necessity is to continue the fight each day with a new spirit and realize that every day is a new beginning in this war.
IL-Pakistan, its supporters and it readers will never bow down to people who seek a short cut to heaven in someone’s pain and hurt. IL-Pakistan is proud to stand for everything the Taliban hate.

  1. Amna Zaman says:

Taliban are following a distorted ideology which will only lead them to hell. No religion can make you enter paradise with killing of 102 civilians. Rightly pointed out!

  2. ali hamdani says:

This war is something which will take us at least a generation to win. The troops can only weaken the Taliban but there is one tool that can disappear their existence and that is education.

  3. eraj danish says:

True to some extent. This is what we need to do but how do stand against what they hate if we are not united as a country? What about the other atrocities taking place over the common man?

  4. Mansoor Khalid says:

Indeed the war is not over yet and the liberals in this society need to keep up the work they have been doing. Refuting extremist ideology and adapting a more liberal ideology is indeed the way forward.

  5. Ammar Zafarullah says:

The voice of liberals will also be unheard unless the make the effort to come out of their comfort zones and make their presence felt in the masses. The irony is that the Taliban apologists are present in every strata of society but the liberals lack such deep-rooted penetration. Our presence needs to go beyond blogosphere and op-ed pages.

  6. Sadia Hussain says:

We must be clear on the reality that no elements of Taliban are noble and are fighting for the right cause; there is no such thing as good Taliban. These forces are inherently evil and they vow to destroy every fragment of our society. The Pakistan army is engaged in fighting Taliban for the last eight years and thousands of soldiers have lost their lives to protect the frontiers of Pakistan it is time that we stand up against the Taliban apologists

  7. Toto says:

No Good Taliban? all Inherently Evil? Taliban Apologist?

Come out of cosy Islamabad. And try to see, talk and meet rather then read. Your world view is too narrow. We spend too much time infornt of your TV. These are real human beings. Yes they exist. …and just next door. …and growing.

Why not round them up and put in gas chambers? Can you do that? Well if you can’t then you have to learn how to coexist with the superevil.

BTW how many evil (i mean talib-an) have you met so far?

  8. Toto says:

Am sorry. We spend too much time infront of OUR TV, not yours. Typo mistake.

  9. Rashid Saleem says:

@Toto: I disagree. How can you even try to coexist with an evil knowing that he can turn his back on you any given day? It’s not about living in a cocoon or ‘Cozy Islamabad’; you don’t have to break a bone in your body to reach the conclusion that yeah its hurts when you break a bone. You can learn that from others.

  10. Toto says:

Rashid: Humn. Well if you can read the situation and people 10/10 and Military action is the only solution and we cannot coexist, then tighten your belts for a long haul. And a bloody one!

In the mean time we should ask some searching questions e.g. Is there a genuine commitment to root out this evil? (From all concerned except you and me). Do they really need them? And what is the cost? If the cost is your blood and mine then IL ought to put THEM on the spotlight. It is very naive to just condemn TALIBAN. Where are the Arabs, our political parties, GoP, intelligentsia? Can you utter a word?

    Just another blog.
